Stress lowers women’s levels of choline, a natural nutrient found in eggs, meat, and soybeans. New science links Black women’s low choline to premature delivery and poorer brain development. Even with good diets, many Black women’s choline remains too low to help their Baby. .
Before or during pregnancy, women can get the extra choline that their Baby needs from supplements available without prescription. Prenatal vitamins are important too, but they alone do not contain enough choline to be useful.
